Work is now underway at the cottage project in Kenya. We have been reunited with our local friends whom we've built the kitchen and dinning hall at KACH with. In this newest incarnation of our work together, we have moved just down the road to a new site where we are constructing housing for volunteers and visitors to the home.
Building is never an easy process here, especially when we lack the numerous tools and machines that we take for granted in North America. Backhoes and bobcats are replaced by picks, shovels and sledgehammers with handles whittled out of tree branches. All misgivings aside, it feels great to be digging, sweating and laughing with our Kenyan friends as we gradually make progress on the cottage project.
