SmartWool Servapalooza Pt. 1

SmartWool is teaming up with Alpine Initiatives and another local non-profit, Yampa Valley Sustainability Council, for their bi-annual service day next week in Steamboat Springs, CO to beautify local recycling containers. Under the instruction of local high school shop teacher, Dusty Dike, participants will build recycling bin shells from up-cycled skis, donated by Twin Enviro Services and Home ReSource of Milner, CO.

Dustin & Jen picked up the skis and loaded them into the truck with some help from the kids from Service Learning Corps (who were out at Home Resource building a spaceship when Jen put them to real work).

Alpine Initiatives is stoked to partner with a local business that has truly internalized sustainable values, as well as another local non-profit like ourselves who are committed to fostering a more sustainable community. Our goal is to get more recycling in our community and make it fun for everyone.

The event will begin at Steamboat Springs High School this Thursday, August 21st and wrap up at SmartWool’s headquarters with a keg from Butcherknife Brewery (for our adult volunteers only of course).

See you out there!
